Aurora, CO (May 27, 2026) – A rideshare passenger died on Monday night, May 25, after a two-car collision at 6th Avenue and Laredo Street in Aurora. The crash happened just after 8 p.m.

A Toyota RAV4 ran a red light at the intersection and struck a sedan being used as a rideshare vehicle. The force of the collision tore off the sedan’s rear passenger-side door, and the passenger was thrown from the car. The rideshare driver was also hurt in the wreck.

Both were taken to a hospital, where the passenger, an adult man, later died. The RAV4 driver was not injured and is cooperating with investigators

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the man who lost his life.

Rideshare Passenger Rights After a Fatal Crash in Aurora, CO

When a rideshare passenger is killed in a crash in Aurora, surviving family members may have legal options that differ from those typically available in standard vehicle accidents. Because rideshare services involve commercial insurance coverage, multiple drivers, and app-based transportation companies, determining liability can become more complex than in an ordinary collision.

Depending on the circumstances involved, legal claims may potentially involve the rideshare driver, another motorist, insurance carriers, or additional parties connected to the crash. Families dealing with this type of tragedy may benefit from preserving records and gathering information early while investigations and insurance reviews are still ongoing.

The effects of a fatal rideshare accident often extend far beyond the initial collision itself. Families may suddenly face emotional trauma, funeral expenses, medical bills incurred before death, and the long-term loss of financial and household support.

In some situations, surviving relatives may also experience major disruptions involving childcare, transportation, or everyday responsibilities that were previously shared with the loved one who died. These practical and financial burdens can continue affecting families long after the first days and weeks following the accident.

Because rideshare crashes can involve several insurance policies and complicated liability questions, many families are left uncertain about what steps to take next. A wrongful death lawyer may help surviving relatives review the details of the collision and explain what wrongful death or civil legal options could be available under Colorado law.

Legal guidance can also help clarify what evidence may support a claim, what compensation could potentially apply, and how insurance coverage issues may affect the process moving forward.
