What Families Should Know About Hit-and-Run Fatal Crashes in Aurora, CO
A hit-and-run fatal crash does not necessarily leave a family without options. Even if the driver responsible has not yet been identified, surviving family members may still have avenues worth exploring, including certain insurance benefits and potential wrongful death claims.
Although the at-fault driver may not have been located, that does not automatically mean financial recovery is impossible. Depending on the circumstances, uninsured motorist coverage and other insurance benefits may assist in hit-and-run situations.
Because every policy is different, it is important to review available coverage carefully and determine what protections may apply. Acting promptly can also help preserve important rights under applicable insurance policies and avoid missing critical reporting deadlines.
Evidence can play a major role in both the investigation and any future claim. Police reports, witness statements, surveillance footage, photographs, vehicle damage records, and medical documentation may all become valuable as authorities continue working to identify the driver. The sooner this information is collected and preserved, the less likely it is that key details will be lost or become more difficult to obtain.
Reviewing insurance coverage, preserving evidence, tracking the progress of the investigation, and evaluating potential sources of recovery can help families make informed decisions during a challenging time.
Experienced legal guidance may also provide clarity regarding available options, help protect a family’s interests throughout the process, and ensure that potential avenues for compensation are fully explored while the search for answers continues.
