Aurora, CO – One Killed and One Critically Injured in Dirt Bike and Truck Crash at 6th Ave & Toledo St

Aurora, CO (October 15, 2025) – One person was killed and another remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash between a dirt bike and a pickup truck Monday evening in Aurora.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the crash occurred just before 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Toledo Street. Investigators said a dirt bike, operated by a man with a woman as a passenger, was traveling eastbound on 6th Ave when it collided with a truck making a left turn from the westbound lanes onto Toledo Street.

The impact caused severe injuries to both dirt bike riders. The male operator was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries but was later pronounced dead. The female passenger was also taken to the hospital, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries. The names of the victims have not yet been released, pending family notifications.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with law enforcement. Aurora police confirmed that alcohol and speed are among the factors being reviewed, though the official cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Authorities closed portions of 6th Ave for several hours as crash reconstruction teams gathered evidence and documented the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing. The police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those affected by this tragic accident. We wish the injured woman a full and swift recovery.

Motorcycle and Dirt Bike Accidents in Aurora, Colorado

Crashes involving motorcycles and dirt bikes often result in severe or fatal injuries because riders lack the physical protection offered by enclosed vehicles. In cities like Aurora, where riders share the road with heavy commuter and commercial traffic, even minor collisions can lead to catastrophic outcomes.

Dirt bikes are not designed for street use but are sometimes operated on public roads, where their lightweight build and lack of safety features increase the risk of serious injury. Common causes of dirt bike or motorcycle crashes include left-turn collisions, speeding, driver inattention, and misjudgment of distance by other motorists. In this tragic case, investigators believe a turning truck and the dirt bike’s approach from the opposite direction led to a deadly impact, a scenario seen frequently at intersections across the country.

Injury victims and families of those killed in motorcycle or dirt bike crashes may have the right to pursue compensation. Legal claims can help cover medical expenses, funeral costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages. However, determining liability in these accidents requires a careful review of police reports, witness statements, and vehicle data.

When dealing with the aftermath of a serious motorcycle or dirt bike crash, professional legal guidance is essential. Our experienced wrongful death lawyers can help victims and families navigate complex insurance issues and ensure their rights are fully protected.
